Regent Aerospace Corporation completes integration of Airbase Services, Inc.
September 26, 2006
Regent Aerospace Corporation (RAC) said Monday that it has completed the integration of Airbase Services, Inc. and it will act as one of the seven Strategic Business Enterprises within the RAC family of companies.
The acquisition marks the first major corporate move by RAC in becoming the global leader in aircraft interior reconfiguration, restoration and refreshing. The combination of Regent and Airbase allows for increased capacity of passenger, crew and flight attendant seat refurbishments, overhauls and entire cabin reconfigurations through the use of Regent Manufactured alternate source (FAA-PMA) cabin interior related components and capabilities to restore life support equipment (vests, rafts, slides and oxygen). The synergy also provides a cross pollination of capabilities and services that include a team of engineers and designers who can transform old and outdated cabins into new and modernized cabins from conceptual design through to the final product. With access to on-site R&D, tooling, manufacturing of soft goods and metal components along with an FAA approved certification facility for burn testing and 9.0 G static testing, very little cannot be accomplished in-house. Both companies also carry FAA certifications for fire-blocking and floatation devices with the ability to manufacture all new fire blocked seat cushions and dress covers in fabric or leather. Airbase also brings with it CNC carpet cutting and surging and complete overhaul, and exchange capabilities for galleys, lavatories, coffee makers, warmers, ovens, chillers, avionics, and in-flight entertainment, line maintenance services for interiors, and on-site SFE/BFE/FAI program & project management services for interior products.
The integration makes RAC the logical choice for nose-to-tail cabin refreshing and ancillary interior support services saving airlines in excess of 50% over the customary OEM offerings.
RAC expanded its aviation services operations due to the resurgence in air travel worldwide and the expanding needs of Airlines to re-brand themselves and refresh their cabins offering a comfort and restyling difference to passengers at a fraction of the cost for new. New aircraft orders are expected to fall short of the mark this year, suggesting that over the next few years supplying FAA, EASA and CAAC approved parts and maintaining existing planes will become more of an important part of the aviation industry. With the integration of Airbase Services, Inc. RAC has increased its aircraft cabin interiors MRO capacity by 45% allowing them to become the world’s largest independent interiors company.
Since the acquisition of Airbase Services, Inc. in July, much work has been completed in order to establish the new organization with the abilities to exceed all previous levels of service support and product quality demanded by our airline customers worldwide.
The largest strategic synergy comes from the newly formed Regent Engineering Services which allows for fast-track “Reverse Engineering” of Aircraft Seats and other Cabin Related Components and provides another supply chain offering other than the OEM. According to Tracy Ourhaan, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for RAC/Airbase, “RAC’s unique cross manufacturer abilities makes us the leader in this niche market and we will continue to attract operators globally with our value equation.”
